Relax babe. You don't have to be an Olympian to be a fIT Girl.
How to Start Your Fitness Journey
A "fitness journey" is a marathon that requires continuous evolution. If you merely focus on losing weight or "getting skinny," you will miss the beauty of the journey itself. Being “fit” can have mutliple meanings. Are you fit to be grateful for the conduit of your physical being? Are you fit to love yourself?
You don't have to start your health and fitness journey on a certain day of the week or at a specific time of year. In fact, the best time to act and create a positive change in your life is right now.
Consider this: You can prepare for the future, but if you don't act in the present, your plans will never take flight. The good news is that getting started doesn't have to be challenging.
If you want to start focusing on your body transformation goals, here are some simple yet effective ways to help you get started today!
My fITness Journey
I wasn't always as healthy and fit as I am today. It started with being sent to fat camp at 19yrs old (chile..another story for another time). Surviving that experience inspired me to expand my knowledge on health and fitness (from fat camp, to kickboxing, to personal trainers, to Orange Theory, and more).
I continued to learn from each experience, do my own research, and now I am empowered by fitness. As a reformed workout HATER.. if I can do it, you most definitely can too!
Moving my body gradually taught me how essential my health was. I discovered that I was deserving of self-love. I also discoverd that fitness has benefits that go far beyond physical transformation.
Here's a look into my life and how I reach my fitness goals.
Start with Small Changes That Will Make A Big Impact
Once I returned home from fat camp, I began integrating body-weight resistance exercises into my workout routine. After finding my comfort zone, I became less intimidated with the idea of going to gym and trying not to look clueless.
I kept showing up, I continued to get better, but it wasn't easy. I still met myself RIGHT where I was – mentally and physically — and absolutely embraced myself and my body. That’s what you must do to ignite transformation. You must decide. You must choose yourself. You must be intentional about your transformation. Embrace yourself at all parts of your journey, and start with small changes.
The good news is that you don't have to rely on yourself alone. With the support of your fellow IT Girlie$, here at The IT Girl Factory, you'll get there!
Invest in Athleisure & Accessories
I strongly believe in the saying, "if you look good you feel good."
Looking good and feeling good can make the difference in your workout because after all, IT’s a Mindset of course!
Some of my favorite workout accessories and must haves include:
A cute gym bag to carry all of your accessories.
A barbell cushion to avoid bruising when lifting heavy weights.
Resistance bands for body weight training.
Ankle straps for cable training.
Cute gym outfits (this has 3 different athleisure looks linked!).
Strive for Progress Over Perfection
I used to weigh myself every morning and obssess about the number I saw on the scale. I allowed those numbers to influence my mood and even my self-worth.
In the past, I've set a goal weight for myself – a number that I felt would make me happy (based on NOTHING). Thankfully, I came to the realization that living within the limits of numbers were not beneficial for my mental health.
And that’s when I decided -
Screw the scale!
Focus on being just 1% better every day. That feels attainable right? One day you’ll look back and be 99.9% intentionally transformed. With purpose and on purpose.
We'll never be 100% transformed because we will never stop evolving. Find the beauty in that!
Don’t worry about the number on the scale! It doesn't reflect the breakdown of your hard work. You’re not pure fat! Muscle mass, water retention, bone density, and hormones, also factor into the number you see.
Remember, no scale wins matter. Quality of health, mobility, strength, more endurance, more flexibility, more speed, and peace of mind matter.
Drink Water
Other than it's hydrating benefits, water flushes the toxins from our bodies, rids us of excess bloating, prevents muscle cramps, balances your body chemistry, etc.
Believe it or not, dehydration can feel like hunger. The truth is you may not be hungry, but actually just thirsty if you’re not drinking enough water!

Honor Your Journey
Remember. Your journey is yours. Give yourself the space to grow in your time.
Give yourself the space to be inspired by what's possible instead of allowing another person's success make you feel inadequate.
There's transformation on the other side of your intentions. Decide today. Let’s get fIT Girl!
